Watch: No Place For Hate – Healing the Asian community in the wake of the Atlanta massacre with May Lee, Tamlyn Tomita, Jully Lee, Dr. Cynthia Wang, and Jennifer Chung

On Thursday, March 18, East West Players presented panelists May Lee, Tamlyn Tomita, Jully Lee, Dr. Cynthia Wang, and Jennifer Chung to confront the urgency protecting our communities after hate crimes. Watch below:

The discussion seeks to respond to the attacks in Atlanta earlier this week as well as unpack the broad scope of anti-Asian violence we’ve seen in the last year, but also the major implications of misogyny that spurred the attack. What can be done to challenge fetishizing/exocitizing of Asian American women? How can we reframe that narrative? What are ways we can empower each other in this moment? What is the role of API artists and allies in responding to this moment and the ongoing persecution of our community? What are ways folks can take action and get involved?
