Two River Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, will launch the 2017/18 Season in September with theater power couple Brandon J. Dirden (Jitney, All the Way, Two River’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) and his wife Crystal A. Dickinson (Clybourne Park, You Can’t Take it with You, Two River’s Seven Guitars) starring as Walter Lee Younger and Ruth Younger in one of the greatest family dramas ever written, Lorraine Hansberry’s 1959 masterpiece A Raisin in the Sun—the play that “changed American theater forever” (Frank Rich, The New York Times).
Dirden will share the stage for the first time with his father, Willie Dirden, who will be playing Bobo. Carl Cofield directs the production which will have performances September 9 – October 8, 2017. The press opening is September 15, 2017. Additional cast to be announced at a later date.
